A Parish Nurse is a Registered Nurse with additional training in "whollistic" ministry, who is called and committed to the healing ministry of the church. The Parish Nurse serves the congregation (and the community) to help meet emotional , physical, and spiritual needs of the members. This ministry is grounded in the tradition of the church "to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick" (Luke 9:2)
H ealth Counselor
Discuss individual health needs regarding illness, medication, prevention, and wellness and reassurance during times of concern or crisis.
E ducator
Promote the relationship between faith, health, attitudes and lifestyle choices.
A dvocate
Identify the medically under-insured, indigent or abandoned, or any members of the congregation/community who need support for decision making about healthcare issues.
L iason
Connect congregational and community members to each other in response to needs as well as appropriate services within the community and government agencies.
T rainer
Recruit and supervise volunteers in health and pastoral ministries and provide information/education to assist them in their role.
H ealer
Facilitate a whole person approach to healing of body, mind and spirit through presence, prayer, home or hospital visitation.
